So guys, is Diablo II a game that it is still played in Battle.NET? I mean, ladder games? There are any ladder new games coming along?

Diablo II is still fairly active. Blizzard released the 1.13c patch on March 23rd, 2010, which not only fixed bugs, but also added the ability to respec your character, changed skill functionality, and added a bit of new content. The release of this patch was also accompanied by a ladder reset.

+1. There are still TONS of people who play it. Not bad for a 10 year old game! - Morinar
I also know a couple of people who still play it. I played as recently as last fall... - GalacticCowboy
Cool! I'm thinking of reinstalling! Too bad it takes tons of time :P - George

strangely it is. With the wealth of MMO games out there with vastly better graphics and gameplay. Some people are die hard fans for this 2D RPG. - giulio

And the mod environment is still active as well, most of the big ones still getting (much more often than official) patches, and even some new ones (an anticipated one has expected release in 2011)!

For more info check out the two big ones at

I still play Median XL, and I don't think I could play regular Diablo 2 after being involved in it. - TheQ

I just reinstalled it last week to start playing it with some friends and was very surprised by how many people not only are still playing it, but still creating new characters and starting from the beginning.

If I start a ladder game without a password in Act 1 with a level 1 character, in about 5 minutes I've got at least one other actual player (ie: not a spammer) in the game and ready to go adventuring. And it usually doesn't take long for the game to fill up and I've got a full pick up group. Which is quite impressive for 10+ year old game.

I played regular Diablo II for a long time and then stopped. Just bought the expansion a couple of weeks ago and am back into it again. Tons of people are still on. Lots of spammers now, don't remember that before though.
